Digitization of business models

Future-oriented business models built on a technical foundation digitally map processes, automate workflows and analyze accumulating data. And they enable entirely new types of value creation through innovation and customer centricity. Often, the rules of the game for entire industries are rewritten in the process. There are already more than enough best-practice examples of digital business models around the world.

There has been an increasing readiness for change processes toward digital business models in recent years. In the final analysis, however, it was the Corona pandemic that made companies recognize digital business models as a necessity. Contact restrictions imposed worldwide, difficulties in procurement, patchy supply chains and a lack of customer contact suddenly made digital business models relevant - if not essential for survival - for almost every company and organization.

This rapid development prompted the ZD.B theme platform Arbeitswelt 4.0 to prepare the most important facts about the digitization of business models in a video together with flame GmbH.

In this video, Petra Dahm, Managing Director of flame GmbH, provides an overview of the drivers, opportunities and success factors of digital business models and explains how companies can implement digitization .

Network Conference Working World 4.0 - Online Workshop "Digitization of Business Models"

The second network conference of the ZD.B theme platform Working World 4.0 on December 3, 2020 was held under the motto "Working World 4.0 - Lessons learned from Corona". The effects of the Corona pandemic have led to a paradigm shift in the world of work. Many companies and organizations have digitized themselves in rapid succession.

Dr. Philipp Ramin and Martin Dowling from the Innovation Center for Industry 4.0 gave a presentation on the topic of digitizing business models and led through the subsequent workshop. Here, participants were confronted with the question: "To what extent did Corona as a catalyst demonstrate the need for digitalization?" and "How does digitalization become an integral part of one's own business model?". In addition, the focus was also on qualification and e-learning as a prerequisite for digitization in companies.
